Slightly offtopic

While I'm in the process of getting my fall hat pictures done - I've got to share this new site I'm using.

SwagBucks!

I love this site. It's a place to earn free gift cards (and other prizes) for simple things we already do like searching, couponing, and shopping online.

I've managed to earn a $5 amazon.com card in only a couple of days. Not kidding!

Another reason I'm sharing here is I'm determined now to have a 'free Christmas' by getting all my gifts with these amazon.com cards.

Check it out and tell me what you think!

Also, keep an eye out for my new hats. Hoping to add some free patterns soon too, just hard to find the time now!

Now with less MSG!

I have finally settled in on a design and worked out most of the kinks. Coming up in June is most likely my last convention of the year, MetroCon. Which is bittersweet. I'd like to do more but I'm expecting a new little one in the fall! To celebrate I will be holding 2 giveaways very soon. One will end at the end of Metrocon/Father's Day weekend. For this one I will be giving away a few amigurumi dolls. Some Octopus like these -
Also some of my new version of the Ninja Turtles - which I will also be introducing new variations of this such as Squirtles, and more. Be sure to follow me on the social sites to keep up!

Trying to catch up!

It seems as though I can never keep this site up to date. That's mostly because I am terrible with budgeting my time.

Right now I am getting prepared for Hatsume Fair! This is the next show I will be selling at.

In preparation I have made a dozen of these little guys. ^.^

New Items on Etsy

My Etsy store - Nikki's Knot Spot has a good number of new items up.

Here is just one. I'm feeling that just the simple animal isn't enough for me anymore so I added a removable skirt to this one.

Right now Im working on a squirrel with acorns and an actual fuzzy tail :D

Octopus Pattern time!

These little guys were a big hit at Chibi-pa. I wish I had made more! But now you can make your own. :D If you would like to buy one you may do so through my etsy.:)

Supples:
Hook size 3.75mm
Worsted weight yarn, one color
yarn or darning needle for attaching legs
something for eyes, i used 10mm plastic safety eyes
small amount of fiberfill
stitch markers

Notes:
Worked in a continuous spiral.
Gauge not important, if you would like to adjust the size you could use as small as a 3mm hook, or as large as 4.25mm.

BODY
R1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
R2: Inc around (12)
R3: Inc, sc *repeat around (18)
R4: sc, inc, sc *repeat around (24)
R5: sc, inc, sc, sc *repeat around (30)
R6-R9: sc around (30)
R10: sc, dec, sc, sc *repeat around (24)
R11: dec, sc, sc *repeat around (18)
R12: dec, sc *repeat around (12)
Stop to insert eyes (I personally like to put them between rounds 7&8, 6 stitches apart) and stuff
R13: dec around (6)
Fasten off and close.

LEGS (make 8)
R1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
R2: Inc, sc *repeat around (9)
R3-R6: sc around (9)
sl st and leave long tail for attaching.

ASSEMBLY
First position all the legs to be sure you will be able to fit them. It may be helpful to pin them in place. (I have several 7 legged octo's from skipping this step!)
Whip stitch each leg in place, pulling tail through to other side of the body, pull taut and cut off excess. This will hide the tail inside the body.

Enjoy!!

Still a noob

I am still having the hardest time coding this blog the way I'd like, so please be patient with me! :)

I will be adding a pattern or two later today when I can get the pics uploaded!

Other noob-ish news - I can't seem to get my custom background to be a small enough file for upload and maintain it's transparent gradient. Perhaps I have to go about it a different way after all.
